Oklahoma holds a thriving comics community with artists and writers publishing dozens of independent works. In addition to our year-round comic shops, the metro area also hosts conventions where crowds of thousands gather from all over the state—SoonerCon, New World Comic Con, and OAFCon, just to name a few!
Okie Comics Magazine is the next development in the blossoming world of Oklahoman art. This quarterly, free periodical serves as a showcase anthology for local creators telling local stories, whether directly from Oklahoma’s rich history, set in Oklahoma’s familiar locations, or in a theme that evokes Oklahoma culture, from our wild weather to our Sooner spirit.
Four times a year, 30,000 printed copies of Okie Comics Magazine are delivered to offices, libraries, restaurants, and other places of business as points of distribution to the public. In addition, digital copies are placed online, accessible through social media and email newsletters. Each issue will reach an estimated 150,000 readers.
Art needs patrons, and Oklahomans are famous as neighbors supporting one another. Okie Comics is funded through advertising, which provides local businesses the chance to be recognized for their support of art and the community. All comics also center in Oklahoma, meaning popular locations and events will appear in the stories themselves.
