Meet the Artist – Scott Sackett
When did you start drawing?
I come from an artistic family: grandfather was a professional drummer, grandmother was an interior decorator, plus several musicians and artists. I grew up surrounded by music and art. My earliest memory of drawing was drawing during church, I loved drawing and was always given paper, art supplies and art books.
What are your favorite things to draw?
I love sitting in a coffee shop and just drawing what I see around me. I was originally an Architecture major in college, and I’ve always tried to tell my stories with a sense of ‘place.’
Who are some of your artistic inspirations?
There are so many; the world is filled with great art! A few that I look to often:
John Byrne, because I love how he constructs the figure.
Syd Mead for how he draws machinery.
Masamune Shirow also for his machinery.
Stuart Immonen for how he tells a story with drama.
Geof Darrow for how he draws clothing.
Any projects you’re working on or looking forward to working on?
I am currently working on Hockey Mom with Walt Barker, and in January I will be working on Heaven’s Rejects with Greg Wright, a super talented writer I have no business working with. Also, I am writing and drawing
DethFist, my fantasy comic.
